I agree with the "guy". In the story, Klaatu is an alien from outer space who comes to Earth and "suggested" to us humans to change our violent ways or be obliterated from existence. The alien, masquerading as a human, had so much trouble to get the humans united so he could deliver the message. In the end when he finally got our attention, he said that (during that time, 1951) humans are starting to advance in technology, mainly in weaponry and bombs, and he does not care as long as we humans "play with our silly toys among ourselves" he would be fine. Klaatu was afraid we train our missiles at other planets and worlds.
As much as I hate to admit it, Klaatu's right. Some humans are horribly blinded by greed, avarice and power, they don't really care if they harm another fellow human physically or mentally. In fact, most of them are not even bothered if thousands of innocent people are killed to get what they want, which are mainly, money, land and power. PLUS! The worst part is, most of these people are world leaders. Spoilt and corrupted leaders who people look up to. I haven't really get to the sad part, most of these leaders are from developing countries who really need a helping hand.
These leaders (can't say who) are smart in their own sinister way. They find reasons to wage war on neighbouring countries and more reasons to embezzle money from their own country for themselves. They basically just cause more chaos to this already chaotic world. It also seems like this people have no guilt in their heart. No love for fellow humans except themselves.
If there's a villain, there should be a hero to make things better, if not neutralise. There are many people who try to make this place a better place. People who dislike their peace being interrupted.
All I think is that the best thing to do instead of a war is to negotiate.
